West-central Illinois is a region of scenic farmsteads, small towns and villages and in the numerous areas too hilly for row crop agriculture, rolling pastures and deeply wooded ravines. It is nationally recognized as a place of outstanding natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and great hunting. Wildlife, from hummingbirds and warblers to wild turkeys and white-tailed deer, is abundant. It contains some of the nation’s richest farmland. Its human inhabitants love the land and appreciate the material and spiritual riches it provides them every day.

Unfortunately, those riches are threatened by the proposed construction of the Peoria to Macomb section of Illinois highway 336, an unnecessary, destructive, and irresponsibly expensive highway project promoted by regional business and political interests in the name of “Economic Development.”
“Citizens Against 336” is a grassroots organization of residents, farmers, environmentalists, and citizens concerned about fiscal responsibility. Its goal is to prevent the construction of the “Peoria to Macomb Expressway” by informing Illinois citizens of its senseless destructiveness and cost, and by informing and assisting those who would be injured by its construction.
